About

Providing Personal lifestyle service based on customer DNA test results

In the summer of 2021, I interned with LG Household & Health Care's UX team & DNA data team where I designed a lifestyle application utilizing the PHR data (Personal Health Records) for an intern idea-pitching project. The goal was to offer a secondary lifestyle app, allowing 2030 customers to make effective use of their genetic data service provided by LG's MyGenomService in their daily lives.

Through this, I aimed to position LG not just as a seller of household and cosmetic products but as a company that continuously engages with its customers to enhance their quality of life. During the project, I refined the product based on customer feedback and survey data, leading to its selection as a future R&D project within LG's UX team. Unfortunately, due to an NDA, I cannot disclose specific visual details.

Outcomes

Delivering new values by utilizing raw Health data to the team

I proposed a second-phase service design that effectively utilizes LG Household & Health Care's customer genetic test result data, targeting the needs of people in their 20s and 30s.

As a result of weekly progress updates presented to the entire department, the project was selected as a future R&D initiative within LG's UX team.

Retrospect

Delivering new values by utilizing raw Health data to the team

This was a special experience for me to collaborate with a different professional team, the PHR genetic data team.
I was able to learn how to communicate with individuals from a different field and ideate a potential service that effectively helps users in their daily lives.

Keep

  • Brainstorming various ways to connect users with the company and utilize raw data from a different perspective.

  • Exploring methods that benefit both the company and users in a mutually advantageous manner.

Problem

  • Difficulties in grasping specialized terminology in hectic meetings, leading to communication barriers.

Try

  • Learning by diving in and facing challenges head-on when acquiring knowledge in a new field. I learned to proactively familiarize myself with the industry to ensure smooth communication.

  • Adopt an attitude of actively asking questions when there’s something I don’t understand in the meeting.
